Doctors' responses

Forehead acne can be irritating, especially if it feels painful. They’re commonly caused by a combination of factors including excessive oil production, clogged pores, bacteria, and sometimes stress might play a role. However, popping pimples can actually make things worse by leading to more inflammation or potential scarring, so avoiding that is usually recommended. A good place to start is by keeping your skin clean with a gentle cleanser day and night. You might also consider using skincare products containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, which help reduce acne by clearing pores and fighting bacteria. Be careful: too much might dry out or irritate your skin, so start slow. When it comes to dandruff, it often ties into scalp conditions like seborrheic dermatitis or simply dry scalp, and there’s a range of shampoos designed to target dandruff. Look for products containing zinc pyrithione, selenium sulfide, or ketoconazole. You might need to try a few to see which one works best, using it initially around twice a week. Also, reducing styling products and stress can sometimes have a beneficial effect. Pay attention to your lifestyle, too—adequate rest, a balanced diet, and managing any stress can all influence your skin and scalp health. Meanwhile, monitor for any signs like worsening acne, pus-filled lesions, or spreading of dandruff that might indicate a need to see a dermatologist. If over-the-counter options don’t help or conditions worsen, seeking professional medical advice would be a good step. Remember that both conditions are common and manageable with consistent care and a little patience.
