I have a lot of hormonal acne on my cheeks. The acne leaves a very red mark. The marks are very prominent and they don’t go. Even after the acne is over. I always have active AMAN. It’s not related to my cycle at all. How do I fix this?

Dealing with persistent hormonal acne can be frustrating, especially when it leaves noticeable marks. Hormonal acne often occurs when there’s an imbalance in hormonal levels, which can lead to increased oil production and clogged pores. While your acne doesn’t seem linked to your cycle, it’s crucial to consider a few potential treatment and management strategies. For acne management, often a combination of topical treatments, lifestyle adjustments, and sometimes oral medications can be helpful. Consider over-the-counter topical options containing retinoids, niacinamide and benzoyl peroxide. These ingredients can help reduce acne lesions and lighten post-inflammatory marks. Choose gentle, non-comedogenic skin care products to prevent further irritation. Oral medications like hormonal contraceptives or spironolactone may help regulate hormonal imbalances. Consult with a dermatologist for a personalized treatment plan that addresses your specific situation. They can also guide you on procedures like chemical peels or laser therapy, which are effective in reducing persistent red marks. Ensure you’re using sunscreen daily, as UV exposure can worsen post-acne marks and lead to prolonged redness. Maintaining a consistent skincare routine and monitoring dietary factors like high-glycemic foods or dairy products can also play a role in managing hormonal acne. It’s always wise to consult with a healthcare provider to evaluate if any underlying conditions might be contributing to your symptoms. Remember, acne management can take time, and seeing improvement may require patience and ongoing care.
