Irregular periods with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) are quite common, but since you’re missing your period for two months, it’s a good opportunity to check in on a few fronts. First and foremost, despite using protection during intercourse, it’s sensible to rule out pregnancy as a potential factor, given that no contraceptive method is completely foolproof. A home pregnancy test can be a straightforward, initial step here. Assuming pregnancy is ruled out, consider that PCOS itself often underlies period irregularity due to hormonal imbalances. Lifestyle changes can significantly help manage PCOS symptoms. Incorporating a balanced diet with reduced sugars and refined carbs, alongside regular exercise, can improve insulin sensitivity and may help regulate menstrual cycles over time. Weight management, even with modest losses, often yields observable improvements in regularity if overweight is a factor. It’s crucial to speak with a healthcare provider about these symptoms and the current treatments you’re on. While homeopathic medicines are used by some, they may not address the underlying hormonal issues of PCOS or be thoroughly backed by evidence-based guidelines. A healthcare professional might suggest medications like metformin or hormonal contraceptives, which are clinically proven to aid in period regularity for individuals with PCOS. Additionally, checking in for an evaluation to look at thyroid function or hyperprolactinemia, as they can cause period disturbances, would be prudent. Ensuring a broader health review will help tailor interventions appropriately. If symptoms of severe pain or other unusual changes appear, prioritize medical attention without delay. Your overall well-being is important, and individualized treatment is often needed for managing a complex condition like PCOS effectively.
