curd in diarrhea

I am feeling really lost and worried here. A few days ago, I started having this awful diarrhea and it’s just relentless! I’ve been trying to figure out what’s going on and yesterday, out of desperation, I thought maybe eating some curd would help since I heard it can be soothing for stomach issues. But now I’m kinda wondering if having curd in diarrhea is a good idea at all. I mean, I've read mixed things online. Some say curd can really help with digestion because of the probiotics, but others are like, stay away from dairy when you have diarrhea! Like, what do I do? I had a bowl of curd with some honey and it felt good at the moment, but later I worried if it was the right choice. Should I avoid curd in diarrhea or is it okay to have it? My stomach is gurgling constantly, and to be honest, I’m just trying to find something that might ease this mess. I don’t want to make it worse! I feel like I’m just tossing around in confusion over whether curd in diarrhea is helpful or not. Anyone been in this situation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Adding honey can be soothing as well, but it does add sugar that could irritate the gut if consumed in excess. While it’s not inherently bad to consume dairy in diarrhea in general, some individuals may find they’re more sensitive to lactose during episodes, leading to worsened symptoms or intolerance. Since curd is often lower in lactose than other dairy, it tends to be well-tolerated. The deciding factor should be how your body reacts—if you eat curd and notice improvements, you can continue with it in moderate amounts. If it seems to aggravate your symptoms, it might be wise to pause and focus on clear fluids and bland foods like bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast (BRAT diet) which are low in fiber and can help firm up stool. Keep yourself hydrated, as diarrhea can quickly lead to dehydration. Mix water with electrolyte solutions or drinks to help replenish lost fluids and salts. If your diarrhea persists for more than two days, or you experience severe symptoms like high fever, dark stools, signs of dehydration, or severe abdominal pain, you should seek medical attention promptly. Such signs might indicate more serious conditions that require professional evaluation and treatment. Remember, persistent diarrhea should never be ignored, and getting a professional opinion is always prudent if you’re unsure about self-care options and personal dietary adjustments.
