precautions of dengue fever

I am trying to get some info about precautions of dengue fever because I think I might have been exposed. A few weeks ago, I went on a tropical vacation and it was amazing, but I'm really freaked out now. I remember getting bitten by a ton of mosquitoes, like they were having a feast on me! Now, I've noticed I've had this constant fever, some joint pain, and these weird rashes popping up. Doctor said to watch out for dengue but didn’t get into the specifics about precautons of dengue fever. My friend said that the precautions of dengue fever are super crucial, especially with the outbreak in some areas. I feel lost here; should I be starting with keeping my windows closed? What about wearing long sleeves? How do I even know if these precautions of dengue fever are actually working? Also, is there anything else besides mosquito repellent that I should use? I get that prevention is better than cure, but this is all a bit overwhelming. Any tips or insights would be soooo useful right now!
