colour for dark skin male

I am having the hardest time figuring out what the best colour for dark skin male clothing should be. Like, I’ve got a wedding to go to next month and I totally blanked on what to wear. I mean, I remember a friend telling me that certain shades really pop on dark skin, but I don't know where to start! I was thinking maybe a light blue or something, but everyone keeps telling me bright colours are great, like yellows and greens, especially for dark skin. I even tried trying my old clothes on, but nothing felt right. I was definitely leaning toward something that makes a statement but not too loud, ya know? And what about patterns? Can I pull off stripes or floral with my skin tone? Does anyone have tips or maybe some colours that just totally work for dark skin males? Like, I’d love to hear about specific examples that could help me stand out in a good way, not like a walking highlighter or something. I'm seriously worried I'm gonna overthink this and end up in just jeans and a plain t-shirt, which would be so boring!
