how to make hair root strong

Pihu

I am seriously freaking out about my hair lately. For the past month or so, I've noticed that my hair feels super weak and it’s been falling out a lot more than usual. I mean, like, every time I brush my hair, I could probably fill up a small bird’s nest with how much comes out! I never had this issue before, and it’s really starting to stress me out. I heard somewhere that there are ways to strengthen hair and I’m just wondering how to make hair root strong again? I’ve tried switching shampoos and even added some hair oils but honestly, I haven’t seen much improvement. My mom always said that a healthy diet makes a difference, but I feel like I’m eating pretty well? I drink water but maybe not enough? Should I be taking supplements or something? I've looked at all the fancy hair products but too many options makes me dizzy! Do any of you guys have tips on how to make hair root strong without emptying my wallet? Oh, and also, are there any everyday habits that might be making my hair worse? Like, can tying it up too tight be an issue? I just really want to figure out how to make hair root strong again before it gets worse!

Hair health can be influenced by a variety of factors, and it’s great that you’re looking to identify and address potential causes of your hair issues. Let’s dive into some practical steps that might help strengthen the roots of your hair. First, considering your diet is a smart move. Ensure you’re getting plenty of protein, as hair is made primarily of a protein called keratin. Foods like eggs, lean meats, fish, beans, and nuts can support hair health. Iron is also crucial, so incorporate leafy greens, lentils, and red meat if your diet allows. Sometimes, deficiencies in vitamin D, zinc, or biotin can also contribute, but before you start any supplements, it might be a good idea to discuss this with a healthcare provider to confirm deficiencies through tests.

When it comes to hydration, drinking enough water is essential for overall wellness, including maintaining hair’s health. Try aiming for at least 8 cups of water daily but adjust based on your activity level and climate. Switching shampoos might not have made a noticeable difference because it often takes time. It’s important to use a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo and limit washing your hair to avoid stripping natural oils— washing even twice a week can be enough. You mentioned hair oils; keep them, but focus on massage as well—massaging your scalp can help promote blood circulation, which in turn nourishes hair follicles.

Regarding habits, indeed tying hair too tightly can lead to traction alopecia, where hair is pulled out by the root. Opt for looser hairstyles and try not to tie hair when it’s wet, as it’s more susceptible to breakage then. High heat from styling tools can also weaken hair, so lower the temperature setting or let your hair air-dry when possible. Lastly, manage stress, as it can indeed impact hair health— practices like yoga or meditation might be useful.

If you don’t notice improvement or the hair loss worsens, consulting a dermatologist or your primary care doctor could provide more personalized insights. They can rule out underlying conditions that might need specific interventions. It’s understandable to be concerned, but remember, addressing hair health is often multifaceted and can take time.
