Doctors' responses

Hello I understand how stressful this situation feels, but I can’t recommend taking any medication like the unwanted kit tablet. It’s important to consult a doctor for guidance, especially since your pregnancy tests are negative and your period is delayed.

Here’s what you should know: - Home pregnancy tests are very accurate when done with the first morning urine after a missed period, especially 9 days late. Two negative tests make pregnancy very unlikely. - Taking i-pill (emergency contraception) can cause your period to be delayed, irregular, or even missed for a cycle or two. This is a common side effect. - Stress, changes in routine, or hormonal fluctuations can also delay periods.

What you should do: - Wait a few more days and repeat the pregnancy test if your period still doesn’t come. - If your period is delayed for more than 2 weeks, or you have unusual symptoms (severe pain, heavy bleeding, fainting, etc.), see a gynecologist for further evaluation. - Do not take any medication like unwanted kit without a doctor’s advice.

Thank you

Do not take an Unwanted Kit (abortion pill) without confirming pregnancy, because it is only used when pregnancy is proven and can cause heavy bleeding and complications if taken unnecessarily.

Since you took I-pill 33 days ago and tested negative twice with first-morning urine, pregnancy is very unlikely — the delay is most likely due to hormonal disturbance from the emergency pill.

Wait 1 more week for your period, and if it still doesn’t come, consult a gynecologist for evaluation and safe cycle-regulating treatment rather than taking abortion medicine on your own.

Hello, thank you for sharing your concern. First, please don’t panic. At this point, pregnancy is extremely unlikely. Emergency contraceptive pills contain a high dose of hormones. They commonly cause: Delay of 1–2 weeks (sometimes even longer), Early period, Irregular bleeding, Temporary cycle disturbance. This is a very common side effect.

Do NOT take an Unwanted Kit. Unwanted Kit is used for confirmed pregnancy. Taking it without pregnancy can cause: Severe hormonal disturbance, Heavy bleeding, Severe abdominal pain Unnecessary complications.

Rather, get done an Ultrasound of Abdomen + Pelvis. If you are pregnant, surely it will be caught up on this. Review with the ultrasound report, if there is no pregnancy, I’ll prescribe you one medicine, and your periods will come.

Feel free to reach out again.

Regards, Dr. Nirav Jain MBBS, D.Fam.Medicine

Hello

If your pregnancy tests were negative twice (including first-morning urine) and it’s been 33 days since taking i-pill, you should NOT take an Unwanted Kit.

Emergency contraception like i-pill often delays periods or disturbs the cycle. A delay of even 1–2 weeks can happen. With: no symptoms negative tests recent emergency pill use

pregnancy is very unlikely.

What to do now: Wait a few more days — the period often comes on its own

If no period by ~2 weeks after the expected date → repeat a urine test or see a gynecologist for confirmation

Do NOT take abortion medication without a confirmed pregnancy — it’s unnecessary and can cause heavy bleeding and side effects

You’re doing the right thing by checking carefully.

A delayed period after i-pill is stressful but common.

I trust this helps Thank you Take care

Based on your history, the chance of pregnancy is extremely low, and you should NOT take an Unwanted Kit (medical abortion pills) without confirming pregnancy. You took Levonorgestrel emergency contraception (I-pill) within the cycle, and you have already done two home pregnancy tests with first-morning urine that were negative, which makes pregnancy very unlikely. Emergency pills commonly disturb hormones and can delay periods by 1–3 weeks or even skip a cycle, especially after the high hormone dose, so your delay is most likely a temporary hormonal imbalance, not pregnancy. Taking Mifepristone misoprostol kit (Unwanted Kit) without being pregnant can cause heavy bleeding, severe cramps, and complications, and is not safe or necessary. The best step is simply to wait a few more days or repeat one test after a week for reassurance; if your period does not come within 2–3 weeks total, see a gynecologist. Overall, your negative tests + I-pill use strongly indicate a delayed period, not pregnancy.

When a period is delayed and pregnancy tests are negative, several factors need to be considered. Stress, hormonal imbalances, recent changes in weight, exercise habits, and even certain medical conditions can affect the menstrual cycle. Since you’ve taken the i-pill, it’s important to note that emergency contraception can also cause changes in your period’s timing. A delay doesn’t necessarily confirm pregnancy.

Refrain from taking an unwanted kit tablet without a confirmed pregnancy, as these medications can have significant effects and aren’t meant to be used as a preventive measure or for regular contraception. If pregnancy tests continue to show negative results and your period doesn’t come, consider consulting a healthcare provider. They might recommend further testing or an examination to determine the underlying cause of the delay.

Meanwhile, ensure that you’re following test instructions properly and ideally test again a few days later if your period hasn’t started. If you experience any unusual symptoms like severe abdominal pain or if your cycle remains delayed, contacting your doctor would be prudent. They can provide a thorough evaluation and necessary guidance regarding the safest and most appropriate next steps for your situation. Additionally, if anxiety or uncertainty is quite overwhelming, having a medical professional assess the situation might provide clarity and peace of mind. Taking necessary self-care measures to reduce stress and maintain a healthy lifestyle while this is being sorted out is also valuable.
