Doctors' responses

Since you’re a 21-year-old male and have only recently noticed your hairline receding into an “M” shape over the past 1–3 months without a family history of hair loss, this pattern could be early male pattern hair loss, but short-term observation (just a few months) may also reflect normal variations or temporary shedding. A hair serum like minoxidil 5% can help slow hairline recession and encourage regrowth, but it usually needs to be used consistently for at least 4–6 months before real results appear, and stopping early (after only 40–50 days) won’t give meaningful benefit and can lead to loss of any early gains. Instead of short courses, it’s best to decide if you’re willing to commit to regular use (once or twice daily as directed on the product) for several months. If you choose to start, follow the instructions carefully and be patient, and consider seeing a dermatologist to confirm the cause and rule out other factors like stress, nutrition, or other conditions. In summary: a brief 40–50 day use is unlikely to help much; effective results require longer consistent treatment and professional guidance.

Hello I understand you’re concerned about your M-shaped hairline. At 21, it is commonly early male pattern hair loss. Since you noticed it less than 1 month ago, it’s good you’re acting early 👍

About Minoxidil 5%:- Minoxidil works best with consistent, long-term use (at least 3-6 months minimum to see results). Using it for only 40–50 days is too short. • Results usually start showing after 3–4 months • Must be continued long-term to maintain results

If you stop after 40–50 days, you will likely: • See no visible improvement • Possibly get temporary shedding • Lose any minor progress

So if you are only planning to use it for 40–50 days, it’s not worth starting.

About the tablets you mentioned:

Multivitamin tablets:- Only help if you have a vitamin deficiency. They don’t much help in regrow hair.

Ferrous sulphate + folic acid:- Used for iron deficiency anemia. If your iron level is normal, they will not help hair growth. Note-Do not take iron tablets without blood test.

For now: • Eat high protein diet • Check Vitamin D, B12, Iron levels • Manage stress • Sleep 7–8 hours • Keep good hygiene

Don’t self-medicate with vitamins or minoxidil without professional guidance—dosing and duration matter.

Thank you

An M-shaped hairline may be early male-pattern hair loss, and minoxidil 5% works only if used twice daily for at least 3–6 months, so using it for just 40–50 days will not give results. Multivitamins or ferrous sulphate with folic acid help hair only if you have vitamin or iron deficiency — they do not treat genetic hair loss in healthy people. You should consult a Dermatology specialist to confirm the cause and check if treatment or blood tests for deficiencies are needed.

Hello

Early M-shape hairline at 21 is usually genetic hair thinning.

What to do:

Minoxidil 5% works — but only if used continuously (twice daily for at least 4–6 months). Using it for 40–50 days will NOT give results.

Apply 1 ml on dry scalp at the front hairline, twice daily.

Multivitamin and iron/folic acid help only if you have a deficiency — they don’t regrow hair by themselves.

For proper plan → consult a dermatologist.

If you can’t continue long-term, starting minoxidil isn’t useful.

I trust this helps Thank you Take care

Hello I understand you’re concerned about your M-shaped hairline. Let me address your questions:

About Minoxidil 5%: Minoxidil works best with consistent, long-term use (at least 3-6 months minimum to see results). Using it for only 40-50 days won’t be effective—you’d need to commit to using it regularly for several months to judge if it’s working.

How to use (if you decide to): - Apply 1 ml to your scalp twice daily (morning and night) - Let it dry completely before touching hair - Check with a dermatologist for the right application technique

About the tablets you mentioned: Once a day

What you should do: See a dermatologist who can: - Confirm if it’s male pattern baldness (genetic) - Check your iron, B12, and other nutrient levels with blood tests - Prescribe the right treatment plan (minoxidil, finasteride, vitamins, etc.) with proper dosing - Monitor your progress

Don’t self-medicate with vitamins or minoxidil without professional guidance—dosing and duration matter.

Thank you

Minoxidil 5% can be effective for male pattern baldness, but it typically requires consistent application over a longer period than 40 to 50 days to see any sustained results. If you’re considering starting treatment, keep in mind that minoxidil needs to be applied twice daily, usually in the morning and evening, directly to the scalp. Consistency is key, and improvements usually take several months to become noticeable—often 3 to 6 months, sometimes up to a year. If you stop using it after a short period, any benefits you might have started to see will likely reverse. Regarding multivitamins and the combination of ferrous sulphate and folic acid, these supplements might help if there’s a nutritional deficiency contributing to hair loss, but they aren’t specifically for hair growth unless tested deficiencies are present. It’s important to have blood work done to identify any deficiencies before starting supplements. In general, for hair health, maintaining a balanced diet with adequate protein, iron, and other vital nutrients is beneficial. If you’re looking for more immediate results within a limited timeframe, it might not be feasible, as most interventions for hair thinning take time to show results. If you’re concerned about hair loss, consulting with a dermatologist or a healthcare provider is wise to get personalized advice based on comprehensive evaluation and medical history. Remember, while serum and supplements can help, they work best when part of a broader lifestyle and healthcare adjustment.
