What causes gas and chest heaviness?

I am been dealing with this annoying thing for a while now and I don’t know what to do. Like, for the last few weeks, I’ve been having this really weird sensation of gas and chest heaviness. It started out kinda mild but now it feels like sometimes I can't even breathe properly! I remember one night I was just sitting on the couch watching TV, and suddenly I felt this intense heaviness in my chest, and along with it came this huge wave of gas. I thought I was having a heart attack or something! I went to the doc and they said maybe it’s anxiety or something related to my stomach. But really, what causes gas and chest heaviness? Is it just trapped air or could it be some kind of serious issue? I also notice if I eat certain foods, like beans or dairy, the gas seems to get worse. But it isn’t just food, I can get this gas and chest heaviness randomly too, even if I haven't eaten anything weird. Like, what even causes gas and chest heaviness in those cases? Is there something I should be paying attention to? I really hope it’s not something serious, but the discomfort just gives me this nagging worry. Any advice would be super helpful!
