Headache, fever, and vomiting following a head injury can be concerning, especially if the symptoms appeared within a short time after the incident. It’s important to consider the possibility of a concussion or a more serious condition like a subdural hematoma or intracranial bleeding, even though these are less common. Fever isn’t typically associated with a concussion, but it might suggest an additional infection or inflammation. The mild headache and ankle pain after two days might suggest residual effects from the initial trauma, but what’s crucial here is the initial presentation of the symptoms. Given the head injury history and your symptoms, it’s imperative to see a medical professional as soon as possible for a thorough evaluation. They might recommend imaging studies, like a CT scan, to rule out any serious intracranial issue, especially if any neur abormalities like confusion, difficulty walking, or any vision problems arise. In terms of managing the symptoms at home until you can see a healthcare professional, make sure to rest adequately, stay well-hydrated, and avoid any activities that might risk another head injury or strain your ankle. Over-the-counter pain relief, such as acetaminophen, can help manage the headache, but avoid nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen or aspirin unless advised, as these can affect bleeding. Monitor your symptoms closely; if there’s any worsening, immediate medical attention is necessary. Your ankle pain with slight movement likely suggests a sprain or strain, and elevating the leg and applying a cold pack can help reduce any swelling and discomfort. However, the head symptoms take priority in this case due to the potential gravity of their implications. It’s better to err on the side of caution with head injuries because the underlying issues can sometimes escalate quickly without obvious warning signs.
