what is herbal tea

I am really struggling with something I read online the other day about herbal tea. I mean, I always thought it was just something people drank for a calming effect, right? But then my friend started telling me about these crazy health benefits of herbal tea like improved digestion and even helping with anxiety. Like, what is herbal tea actually? I tried to look it up, but there's so much info out there! Sometimes, I think I'm getting confused about whether herbal tea is the same as regular tea or not, you know? I drank chamomile tea last night cause I heard it’s great for relaxation, but like, is it really considered herbal tea? And then there's all those herbal blends, like mint and ginger, I’ve seen at the store. They say those can help with nausea and stuff, but is that legit? I'm just feelin a bit lost. What is herbal tea on the whole? Are there any downsides or things I should know? Like, can I just switch my morning coffee to herbal tea and expect everything to be better?
