Be cautious not to rinse too vigorously, which could interfere with clot formation. Over-the-counter pain relievers, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, can help manage the pain, but it’s essential to follow the dosage instructions on the label. Applying a cold compress to the cheek near the extraction site can be soothing as well, reducing swelling and providing pain relief. Lastly, avoid smoking, alcohol, and straws which can negatively affect the healing process and potentially exacerbate symptoms. If the pain remains unmanageable or if other symptoms like fever, heavy bleeding, or pus indicate infection, seek immediate dental or medical attention.
