How to reduce Severe hairfall and premature greying at the age if 25 - #10395

Trupti

I have been suffering from severe hair fall since years. Also premature greying started since the age of 15. I am noticing that most of the hairs are starting whitening from the middle of the hair stands. I have tried eating healthy, exercising, biotin supplements but nothing worked. Now 70% of my hairs have turned white. Mostly the upper head area has turned white hairs. How to overcome these.

Doctors’ responses

Severe hair fall and premature greying can stem from a variety of factors, and managing them often requires addressing the underlying causes. Hair fall, or alopecia, can commonly be linked to genetic factors, nutritional deficiencies, stress, or hormonal imbalances. Since common interventions like nutrition and biotin supplements haven’t been effective for you, it might be useful to explore other avenues. Stress management, ensuring adequate levels of vitamins D, E, B12, and iron may be crucial as deficiencies can impact hair health. If genetic factors or hormonal issues (like thyroid dysfunction) are at play, a specific treatment plan might be necessary. Consulting a dermatologist or trichologist for a detailed evaluation can help identify the root cause. Tests like a thyroid profile or iron levels may provide insight. For premature greying, genetics is a significant factor, but oxidative stress and nutritional deficiencies (especially B12 and folic acid) might play a role as well. Though there’s no universally effective treatment for reversing grey hair, addressing nutritional deficiencies with a balanced diet rich in antioxidants can be beneficial. Ensure proteins, which are crucial for melanin production, are part of your diet. Some experimental treatments involve topical anti-oxidants, but results vary. These issues don’t generally pose serious health risks but seeing a healthcare provider for tests and appropriate interventions can offer more personalized solutions. If any signs suggestive of illness appear, like sudden hair loss, it’s advisable to seek medical attention promptly.
