Doctors’ responses

Based on the symptoms you’re describing – weight struggles, period delays, changes in skin tone, and cravings – it’s important to first consider a comprehensive evaluation for potential hormonal imbalances such as thyroid dysfunction or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Both conditions can contribute to the symptoms you’re experiencing. Considering your difficulties with weight management and cravings, a thyroid test checking levels of TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) can be a starting point. If thyroid levels are abnormal, further assessment of T3, T4, and anti-thyroid antibodies will be necessary. For PCOS, it might be beneficial to explore tests for androgen levels and an ultrasound if necessary.

On the lifestyle front, a balanced approach toward diet and physical activity is key. Since you’re having trouble with cravings, try a structured meal plan with plenty of vegetables, lean protein sources, and whole grains which may help stabilize blood sugars and curb hunger. Ensuring that meals happen at regular intervals can also help with managing cravings. Hydration is essential too; sometimes thirst might be mistaken for hunger.

Alongside walking daily, try to incorporate some strength training exercises 2-3 times per week, as they can help boost your metabolism. Consulting a nutritionist or a dietician with a particular focus on hormonal health could offer personalized dietary strategies. Also, managing stress levels with relaxation techniques such as yoga or meditation can impact weight, as stress hormones can influence weight and cravings.

Continual difficulties despite these measures warrant visiting a healthcare professional who can assess your full history, conduct necessary tests, and create a tailored plan considering your specific condition. While home-based strategies can assist, professional guidance ensures no underlying serious condition is overlooked.
