Chronic acne can be frustrating, especially when you’ve tried multiple treatments without relief. Your sensitive skin adds another layer of complexity, as many acne treatments can be irritating. It’s important to revisit your treatment plan with a fresh perspective. A step worth considering is a clear assessment of your skincare routine. Sometimes simplifying can help: use gentle, fragrance-free cleansers and moisturizers suitable for sensitive skin, avoiding harsh or abrasive products. When washing your face, do it with lukewarm water, not hot, to avoid exacerbating sensitivity. Given the wide range of treatments you’ve tried, we should consider systemic treatments. Oral isotretinoin might be an option if acne is severe and resistant to other treatments. It requires monitoring by a dermatologist due to potential side effects but can lead to prolonged remission. Another aspect is evaluating hormonal influences; if acne fluctuates with your menstrual cycle, hormonal therapies like oral contraceptives or spironolactone might help, under guidance from a healthcare provider. Additionally, maintaining a balanced diet might support treatment: avoiding high glycemic foods that may exacerbate acne. Also, be mindful of stress management as stress can worsen acne. If these approaches don’t align with improvement you seek, consulting with a dermatologist for an in-depth evaluation and potential further exploration into treatment alternatives like laser therapy could be beneficial. This journey can feel tedious, but with targeted efforts, improvement is possible.
