how to remove darkness on face - #12715

Aditya

I am struggling with this annoying issue of how to remove darkness on face. It's been months since I started noticing this darkening, mainly around my cheeks and forehead. I thought it was just summer tan, but now I'm not too sure. I tried some over-the-counter creams, but they don’t seem to help much. I even went to a dermatologist, and all I got was a light peel, but honestly, it just made my skin feel dry and irritated. Still the darkness is there. Can anyone help with how to remove darkness on face? My friend mentioned natural remedies, like lemon and honey, but I’m really skeptical. Are these actually effective? Also, should I be concerned that it might be something more serious? I'm thinking internally, like maybe hormones or diet? I mean, I do eat a lot of junk food lately. Just really looking for real advice on how to remove darkness on face without making it worse, especially with the upcoming wedding in the family! Appreciate any tips, even if they seem minor!

When dealing with facial darkening, identifying the underlying cause is critical. Dark patches can arise from several factors including sun exposure, hormonal changes, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or lifestyle habits. Considering you noticed these changes over months, and have tried some initial treatments, it might be worth revisiting a few areas for a comprehensive approach. UV protection is paramount, aim to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily, even indoors, as it can prevent further darkening. Since over-the-counter creams haven’t shown improvement, ingredients like niacinamide or azelaic acid might offer better results, as they are known for their gentle brightening properties and fewer side effects. While natural remedies like lemon and honey are popular, they can sometimes irritate and aren’t generally supported by robust scientific evidence; proceed with caution. Given the lack of success with the dermatologist’s peel, it might be beneficial to consult again or seek a second opinion, perhaps exploring options like prescription-strength retinoids or laser treatments, which offer deeper solutions but do require professional guidance. Regarding potential internal causes, hormonal shifts or dietary habits could contribute. Incorporating a balanced diet, reducing junk food, and considering potential supplements like vitamin C and E might aid in overall skin health. If you sense hormonal imbalances, or notice irregularities like menstrual issues, a checkup with your healthcare provider might be needed. It’s serious if dark patches change in size, shape, or color, or if you experience symptoms like itching or bleeding — these warrant prompt medical evaluation. In preparing for your family wedding, consistency with skincare and sun protection, combined with professional guidance, would likely help improve your complexion without exacerbating dryness or irritation.
