how to stop a pimple from growing - #17375

Rashi

I am seriously freaking out right now. I’ve dealt with acne before, but there's this one stubborn pimple on my cheek that’s just getting worse and worse! Like, it started out as this tiny little bump – you know, one of those that makes you hope it’s just a weird skin thing. But now, I am starting to feel this pain and redness, and I can see it's just waiting to erupt into this big monster! I’ve tried some of those over-the-counter treatments, you know, the ones that say they’ll show results in a few hours, but I feel like I just need to know how to stop a pimple from growing before it turns into something horrific for my date this weekend. I’ve read that ice can help, but I’m not sure if I should put something like tea tree oil on it too or just stick to one method. Can I actually mix the two? Also, would picking at it help or just make it wayyy worse? Like, ugh! I am really desperate here! What do you guys suggest for how to stop a pimple from growing without making it worse? Just need something that works fast cause I really don’t wanna deal with this!

Absolutely understand the frustration of a pesky pimple, especially with an upcoming event. To stop a pimple from growing, a few targeted approaches may help. It’s best to start with applying ice to the pimple for a few minutes, using 10-minute intervals. This can reduce swelling and inflammation. Avoid leaving ice directly on your skin to prevent a frostbite – wrap it in a thin cloth first. As for tea tree oil, it’s a potent whose antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects can be helpful. Dilute it with a carrier oil (like jojoba or coconut oil) before applying, using a Q-tip to dab it gently on the affected area. Mixing it with other treatments simultaneuosly isn’t recommended as it could irritate your skin. Especially avoid using ice and tea tree oil at the exact same time.

Over-the-counter acne treatments containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid can be effective too – they help reduce bacteria and dry out excess oil. Apply sparingly on the specific spot. Furthermore, resist the temptation to pick at or squeeze the pimple. doing so can introduce more bacteria into the area, increases chances of scarring or even worsen the inflammation. If it doesn’t improve or gets more painful, seeing a healthcare provider could be beneficial as they can provide stronger medications or treatments if needed. Keep your skin clean, don’t over-wash or scrub as it can aggravate the skin. These steps can help, but remember patience is key as pimples often take some time to subside fully.
