Reg: Medicines for diabetic and ED problem - #10044
I'm diabetic from past 4 years, after starting the English medicine I had Ed problem and a kind of weakness in the nerve...I would like to bring to your kind attention my recent blood test reports from two weeks ago. My HbA1c is 6.9, kidney function tests (KFT) are within normal limits, but the urine analysis showed +2 protein. My total cholesterol is 238 mg/dL and triglycerides are 380 mg/dL. I am currently taking allopathic medication only for diabetes ( VG1 1-0-1 and Stiadose Dm 500/100/10 1-0-0). I also had abdomen and penis scanning , all were normal and only a smal hypoechoic plaque 4.8x5.2x1.9 mm was noted.. it is now ok it has dissolved now. I humbly request you to kindly prescribe a suitable Ayurvedic medicine regimen that addresses all my current health concerns. I am keen to follow your advice consistently and sincerely.

Doctors’ responses
I can certainly share medical insights from the perspective of a general practitioner. It sounds like you are managing your diabetes with modern medication, but you’re experiencing some additional complications. Erectile Dysfunction (ED) can be a common issue in men with diabetes, often related to nerve damage, blood flow issues, or side effects of medications. Given your blood test results: an HbA1c of 6.9% indicates fair glycemic control, but aiming for a level below 6.5% can further reduce complications. The high cholesterol and triglycerides suggest an increased cardiovascular risk, often complicating ED. Controlling these levels through lifestyle changes or medication is essential. Your +2 protein level in urine suggests you should monitor kidney health closely; maintaining tight blood sugar control will help minimize potential kidney damage. While you’ve requested Ayurvedic treatments, I must advocate for seeking guidance from a healthcare provider specialized in integrative medicine, who can appropriately blend traditional and modern therapies. Addressing ED can include medications like PDE5 inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil), lifestyle modifications, or managing blood sugar and cholesterol levels. Consider discussing these options with your doctor. Rather than directly switching or adding alternative medicines, integrate traditional practices with a medical science-based approach. It’s crucial to maintain regular follow-ups with your healthcare provider to carefully observe any treatment changes and ensure they’re effective and safe, especially considering the complex nature of diabetes and its associated complications.
