Managing PCOD (Polycystic Ovarian Disease) can indeed be challenging, and it’s great you’ve tried weight loss, medications, and even lifestyle adjustments. Since you’ve mentioned an increase in period flow, making sure you’re getting personalized advice from your doctor is important, as they can consider specific interventions based on your symptoms and overall health profile. For natural ways to support PCOD management, continue with consistent exercise — not just weight loss-oriented but also for overall metabolic balance. Aerobic activities like brisk walking or swimming, combined with strength training, can be beneficial. Aim for at least 30 minutes five days a week. Yoga can be particularly effective, focusing on poses that enhance blood flow to pelvic region. Poses like Baddha Konasana (Butterfly Pose) and Dhanurasana (Bow Pose) might be helpful. Additionally, monitor your diet: ensure a well-balanced diet low in refined carbohydrates and sugars, high in fiber, incorporating whole grains, lean proteins, and plenty of vegetables and fruits. Reducing caffeine and alcohol can also aid hormone balance. Regarding supplements, some studies suggest inositol can help improve insulin sensitivity and regulate periods, but always check with a doctor first. Maintaining a regular sleep schedule supports hormonal balance. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep. Manage stress through mindfulness or meditation, which can help in regulating cortisol levels. However, since increased period flow could indicate other issues, further evaluation by a healthcare provider is suggested. They may need to re-assess your treatment plan or check for other underlying conditions. It’s vital not to neglect regular follow-ups and stay in touch with your healthcare provider for tailored advice.
