Chronic acid reflux with chest heaviness, anxiety, and slow digestion despite multiple treatments may point to a gut–brain axis imbalance, where stress and constipation worsen your reflux symptoms. Long-term acidity can also be linked to delayed gastric emptying (gastroparesis) or functional dyspepsia, not always seen clearly in endoscopy. Please consult a gastroenterologist and psychiatrist together for a combined approach—treating both gut health and anxiety can give lasting relief.
Hello pankaj ji As you have stated that u have suffered from anxiety issues from long time…that can most probably cause of acid reflux as your endoscopy were negative I would suggest you to take counselling and help with your anxiety issues while taking gerd medication to improve your condition slowly and properly… counselling might help your hypertension issues also if your anxiety gets resolved
Acid reflux, known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), can indeed be intertwined with other digestive issues like constipation and anxiety, which may contribute to your symptoms. If you’ve already consulted gastroenterologists and tried various medications, it’s crucial to review your lifestyle factors that might influence GERD. Consider dietary modifications: reduce intake of foods and beverages that trigger reflux such as spicy foods, chocolate, caffeine, alcohol, and fatty meals. Eating smaller, more frequent meals and avoiding lying down immediately after eating can help too. Addressing constipation might involve increasing dietary fiber through fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and staying hydrated. Gentle physical activity can assist in stimulating bowel function. Reducing anxiety, which may exacerbate your symptoms, could involve exploring stress-relief techniques like mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy or other forms of counseling. Sometimes, persistent symptoms despite medication suggest other issues might be at play such as motility disorders or functional dyspepsia. If these lifestyle changes don’t ease your symptoms, or if you start experiencing alarming symptoms like unintentional weight loss, persistent vomiting, or evidence of gastrointestinal bleeding, it’s important to follow-up with your healthcare provider. They might need to revisit your current treatment approach, potentially including a reassessment of your medications, as sometimes optimization or combination therapies are necessary. Remember, adjustments in managing chronic conditions like GERD can take time to manifest noticeable improvements.
