Doctors’ responses

Based on the symptoms you’ve described, you’re dealing with a combo of oily skin, acne, and dandruff, which can be a bit tricky to manage. Let’s start with your skin. Oily skin can lead to acne, especially on areas like the forehead and chin. It’s important to use non-comedogenic products, which don’t clog pores. While Acmist moisturizer and UV Doux sunscreen are popular choices, they might feel heavy for your skin type. Consider switching to a lightweight, gel-based moisturizer like those containing hyaluronic acid, which hydrates without causing oiliness. You can try a mattifying sunscreen specifically made for oily skin to reduce that greasy feel. Look for those with ingredients like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide that can help control oil. For managing acne, a simple routine might include using a gentle foaming cleanser twice a day. Ingredients like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide in your face wash might help reduce acne, although you’ll want to start using them gradually as they can be drying. On the dandruff front, an anti-dandruff shampoo containing ketoconazole or selenium sulfide could help. Use it twice a week, leaving it on for at least five minutes before rinsing it off. Reducing the oiliness of your hair can also aid. Try washing your hair more frequently while ensuring not to over-wash and strip its natural oils completely. Balance is key here. Besides skincare, lifestyle plays a role too. Keeping hydrated, eating a balanced diet, and managing stress can positively affect both your skin and scalp. Remember, if these steps don’t manage your symptoms, or they worsen, consult with a dermatologist for further evaluation and treatment.
