Acne on the forehead and cheeks can be frustrating, but there are several evidence-based strategies to help manage it. Begin by maintaining a clean skincare routine. Use a gentle cleanser to wash your face twice daily — once in the morning and once before bed. Avoid scrubbing too hard, as this can irritate the skin. You might find over-the-counter products with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid useful, as these ingredients can help reduce acne by targeting bacteria and promoting skin exfoliation. Make sure to use non-comedogenic moisturizers and sunscreens, which won’t block your pores. It’s also wise to keep your hair clean and away from the face, as oils from the hair can exacerbate acne. Lifestyle factors also play a role. Try to reduce stress, which can worsen acne in some individuals. It could help to evaluate your diet too, as for some people, a diet high in sugar and dairy products may increase breakouts. Ensure you’re drinking plenty of water and maintaining a balanced diet. If these steps don’t seem to help, or if the acne is very severe, it would be beneficial to consult with a dermatologist. They might suggest prescription treatments, like topical retinoids or antibiotics, or discuss other therapies, like hormonal treatments if relevant. It’s important to address acne not just for its visible effects but to prevent potential scarring. If you ever experience symptoms like significant redness, swelling, or pain in the acne-affected areas, or if there are signs of infection, seek medical advice promptly. Following these steps can often significantly improve your skin condition over time.
