Doctors’ responses
Persistent pimples and the resultant dark spots can be a significant concern, especially when occurring continuously and affecting various parts of the body. Given your oily skin type and the consistent acne, it’s possible that several factors are contributing to the condition. Lack of results from niacinamide suggests that a comprehensive approach might be beneficial. Working night shifts can indeed disrupt your body’s natural hormonal balance and exacerbate acne due to stress, poor sleep quality, and irregular meals, all of which can influence sebum production. To address the root causes, start with a gentle, consistent skincare routine. Use a mild, oil-free cleanser twice a day to remove excess oil and dirt without over-drying the skin. Consider incorporating a product with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, which may help to manage acne effectively. Since niacinamide wasn’t helpful, trying products with retinoids may also support skin renewal and reduce both pimples and dark spots. Look for “non-comedogenic” skincare and make-up products to prevent further clogging of your pores. Maintain a balanced diet, rich in fruits and vegetables, and limit dairy intake, which can sometimes trigger acne in sensitive individuals. Vitamin C serums might aid in fading dark spots over time, though they require consistent use. If your acne or hyperpigmentation persists despite these modifications, it could be worth consulting a dermatologist for further evaluation. Prescription treatments like topical creams or oral medications might be necessary to get your acne and dark spots under control. Additionally, ensure proper hydration and try regulating your sleeping pattern as much as possible. While lifestyle alterations can be challenging, particularly with shift work, gradual changes can eventually result in an improvement of skin issues.
