Doctors’ responses

First off, dealing with pimples and dull skin can be a frustrating experience, but there are several steps you can take to improve both issues. Starting with the acne, particularly closed comedones, which are commonly small white or skin-colored bumps, it’s important to keep the skin clean and unclog pores. A gentle cleanser containing salicylic acid can help slough off dead cells and clear out pores. Apply a non-comedogenic moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated while avoiding ingredients that can block pores.

For the dull, unglowing skin, incorporating products with ingredients like vitamin C, niacinamide, or hyaluronic acid can be beneficial. Vitamin C is known for its brightening properties, while niacinamide helps in balancing oil and enhances the skin’s barrier function. Hyaluronic acid aids in hydration, which can improve skin texture and luminosity. Using a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily is crucial, as sun damage can exacerbate skin dullness and pigmentation issues.

Regarding the hair loss, a good start would be to ensure you’re getting enough nutrients, such as iron, zinc, and biotin, since deficiencies can contribute to hair fall. You might also consider using a gentle shampoo that’s free of sulfates, which can be harsh on both the scalp and hair. Minimize the use of heat styling tools, as excessive heat can weaken the hair shaft and worsen hair fall.

Additionally, it’s wise to monitor your stress levels and get adequate sleep, as both factors play a significant role in skin and hair health. If these home measures do not lead to improvement, consulting a dermatologist can provide targeted treatments, including topical retinoids or professional chemical peels for skin issues, and a more personalized approach to hair loss if needed. Ensure you discuss any underlying health conditions or medications you’re taking, as these can affect both your skin and hair.
