Pimples on your chin and cheeks can result from several factors, even if you believe your diet to be mostly balanced. Hormonal fluctuations, especially those related to androgens, commonly contribute to acne in these areas by increasing oil production and causing clogged pores. Additionally, the use of skincare products or makeup that are comedogenic (pore-clogging) can exacerbate the issue. Stress, although less discussed, can also play a role, as it may trigger the release of hormones that can worsen acne. Since you mentioned itchy scalp, it’s worth considering the possibility of a condition like seborrheic dermatitis, which is known to cause both scalp issues and sometimes facial acne-like lesions. It could be beneficial to investigate whether your hair care products are contributing to this or if there’s an interplay between the scalp and facial skin conditions. While dairy products can sometimes be linked to acne due to hormones present in them, if your intake is minimal, it might be a lesser factor. Nonetheless, reducing dairy further or eliminating it temporarily might help clarify if there’s a correlation. It’s important to monitor how your skin responds to dietary adjustments. For topical care, consider using non-comedogenic and gentle cleansers, and if over-the-counter treatments are necessary, ingredients like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid may be effective. Consulting with a dermatologist can provide more targeted treatments, possibly including prescription medications if necessary. While self-management strategies such as reducing touching your face, managing stress, and maintaining a consistent skincare routine are often helpful, a professional opinion may help address the underlying cause. Always remember any sudden increase in severity, or if accompanied by symptoms like unusual pain or swelling, should warrant medical attention to rule out more serious conditions.
