Dealing with acne and pimples, especially when your skin is both oily and sensitive, requires a strategic approach. First, it’s important to use a gentle cleanser twice daily that won’t strip your skin of its natural oils, as over-cleansing can actually cause more irritation. Look for products labeled “non-comedogenic” and “fragrance-free.” Next, consider a topical treatment containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, both of which are effective at reducing acne; however, given your sensitive skin, start with a lower concentration to see how your skin reacts. Apply it once a day, and if your skin tolerates it well, you can increase to twice daily.

Additionally, incorporating a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer can help maintain skin hydration. Many people skip moisturizing thinking it will make acne worse, but maintained hydration is key, and there are specifically formulated products for acne-prone skin. Since your acne seems to be causing irritation, applying a soothing, alcohol-free toner with ingredients like aloe vera or chamomile might help. Meanwhile, resist the urge to pop or pick at the acne, as it can lead to scarring and further irritation.

On a lifestyle note, try to minimize touching your face, ensure your pillowcases are changed regularly, and manage stress as it can exacerbate acne. If you’ve tried these approaches and don’t see improvement after a couple of months or if the acne is very bothersome, think about seeing a dermatologist. They might suggest other treatments like topical retinoids or even prescribe oral antibiotics if they deem it necessary.

Lastly, since certain foods could potentially aggravate acne in some people, you might experiment with reducing dairy or high glycemic-index foods, although this is somewhat individualized. Be observant on how your diet correlates with your skin condition. It’s crucial that if any treatment regimen causes severe irritation or allergy signs, it should be discontinued immediately and medical advice sought.
