Given your situation, it sounds like you’re dealing with constipation and possibly some irregular bowel habits, probably exacerbated by dietary choices. Addressing constipation usually requires a multi-faceted approach, considering diet, hydration, physical activity, and sometimes direct medical interventions. First, since you’ve already moved toward a healthier diet of fruits, salads, and banana shakes, that’s a great start. These foods are high in fiber, which is essential for bowel health. However, ensure you’re getting a balanced intake of both soluble and insoluble fiber. You might want to incorporate whole grains, such as oatmeal or brown rice, as well as beans and legumes. Stay well-hydrated, since fiber needs water to function properly in aiding digestion. Aim for about 8 glasses of water daily, more if you’re active. Speaking of which, regular physical activity like walking or jogging can stimulate digestion, so try to incorporate some gentle exercise into your routine most days of the week. With regards to stool consistency, thin stools occasionally can be normal but if it persists or if you experience pain, blood, or significant changes in your bowel habits, it’s important to consult a doctor to rule out more serious conditions. Finally, consider probiotics which can be found in yogurt or supplements, as they help to maintain a healthy gut flora balance. Since you mentioned being underweight, your overall nutritional intake should be evaluated to ensure you’re meeting caloric and nutrient needs, potentially with professional guidance from a dietitian. Remember that persistent digestive problems warrant a medical evaluation to tailor an approach specific to your health needs and exclude underlying conditions.
