Doctors' responses

It sounds like you’re dealing with several challenges that may be affecting your energy levels and daily functioning. From a medical standpoint, it seems that your reported symptoms could be related to your known deficiencies in iron and vitamin B12, both of which are crucial for maintaining healthy red blood cell production, energy levels, and overall neurological function. However, the need for excessive sleep and daytime lethargy might also intersect with stress, dietary intake, hydration, or even sleep quality. First, it’s important to ensure that your deficiencies are being addressed properly. This usually mean adhering to a supplement regimen as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Taking an iron supplement with vitamin C-rich foods might enhance absorption. Similarly, B12 supplements are beneficial, particularly if a deficiency is confirmed via a blood test. Besides, make sure to incorporate iron and B12-rich foods such as lean meats, fish, eggs, leafy greens, and fortified cereals into your diet. It might help to gradually establish a regular sleep-wake pattern. Making slight changes such as ensuring 7-9 hours of sleep at a consistent time each night can help stabilize your body’s internal clock. Watch for factors that can impair sleep quality, like the heavy use of electronics at night or caffeine intake late in the day. As you’re also preparing for exams, effective time management can prevent concentration dips. Consider incorporating short frequent breaks and physical activity; these can enhance focus and alleviate some feelings of lethargy. Staying hydrated is equally crucial – sometimes fatigue can be exacerbated by not getting enough fluids. While these steps can be beneficial, please monitor your symptoms closely. If you continue having difficulty or if new symptoms arise, reach out to a healthcare professional promptly for an evaluation. They might want to rule out other condition such as sleep disorders or thyroid issues.
