Your irregular and prolonged bleeding is most likely due to hormonal imbalance (often PCOS-related at your age), but thyroid and other causes must be ruled out. Please consult a gynecologist for tests and proper treatment before starting hormones.
Thank you.
Prolonged and irregular bleeding every few months suggests a hormonal imbalance, commonly seen in PCOS or thyroid problems. Even if the flow is light, continuous spotting can lead to anemia and needs medical regulation. Please consult a gynecologist for proper evaluation and treatment.

Irregular periods with prolonged bleeding can have several underlying causes, and it’s essential to address these with a healthcare professional who can guide you toward a personalized approach. Conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), thyroid disorders, and hormonal imbalances could be contributing factors. To pinpoint the exact cause, a thorough evaluation is required, including a detailed history, physical examination, and possibly blood tests to assess hormone levels or an ultrasound to check for ovarian cysts or uterine abnormalities. Since your bleeding is prolonged and recurring with a very light flow, understanding the pattern is critical. In some cases, oral contraceptives or hormonal treatments can help regulate your cycle and reduce the duration of bleeding, though these options should only be considered after discussing with a doctor familiar with your health history and specific needs. Ensuring you maintain a healthy weight, reducing stress, and having a balanced diet can also support regular cycles. If medication or lifestyle adjustments don’t help, other interventions may be recommended based on your diagnosis. However, if you experience heavy bleeding, dizziness, or other concerning symptoms, seeking prompt medical attention is critical to rule out anemia or other complications. This issue should be managed with your health care provider’s active involvement to ensure a safe and effective treatment plan tailored to you.
