Doctors’ responses
Your dark spots and open pores are mainly due to past acne and sun damage. With a consistent routine of Vitamin C in the morning, adapalene/azelaic acid at night, moisturizer, and daily sunscreen, your skin will gradually become clearer and brighter in 2–3 months. If marks persist, dermatological procedures like peels or microneedling can be considered
Morning
Gentle foaming cleanser (salicylic acid 1–2% if oily / mild gel if sensitive).
Vitamin C serum (10–15%) brightens skin, reduces pigmentation, adds glow.
Niacinamide (5%) (optional, can be used in same serum or separate) minimizes pores, regulates oil.
Moisturizer (oil-free, gel based).
Sunscreen SPF 50+ (matte/gel) non-negotiable if you want dark spots to fade & skin to glow.
Overnight soaked chia seeds 1 tsp in 2 glass of water
Evening
Cleanser (same).
Adapalene 0.1% or Retinol (pea-sized, 3x per week increase slowly) repairs skin, reduces spots, minimizes pores.
Moisturizer (light but hydrating).
If retinol feels too strong: Azelaic acid 10% brightens & fights acne marks.
Sleep: 7–8 hrs (skin repairs at night).
Hydration: 2–3 L water daily.
Diet: more fruits (pomegranate, orange, papaya), vegetables, nuts (almond, walnut), seeds (flax, chia).
Stress management: yoga, walks, meditation stress hormones flare acne + dullness.
Avoid: smoking, excess sugar, oily/junk food.
Hi Vishak,
1. Daily routine
Gentle cleanser (avoid harsh soaps) Moisturizer (gel-based for oily skin, cream-based for dry skin) Sunscreen (SPF 30–50) every morning, even indoors → this is most important for preventing and fading dark spots.
For dark spots:
Niacinamide serum(5–10%) – reduces pigmentation and improves tone Vitamin C serum (10–20%) – gives glow AHAs (like glycolic acid) – exfoliation for glow (Introduce one at a time, at night, and do a patch test first.)
Lifestyle habits:
Sleep 7–8 hrs daily Drink enough water (2–3 liters/day) Eat antioxidant-rich foods (fruits, veggies, nuts) Reduce stress (yoga, meditation, walking)
If home care doesn’t help in 6–8 weeks consult a dermatologist in person
Thank you dear
Hello dear See the acne or pimples are mostly due to hormonal alterations or physiological variation in the body. I am suggesting some curative and preventive measures for improvement. Please follow them for 1 month 1. Topical Treatments -Benzoyl Peroxide (2.5–5%) Kills bacteria and is anti-inflammatory in action. Salicylic Acid or Adapalene 0.1% can also be given as additive medications (on recommendation only from concerned physician) 2.Clindamycin 1% Clindac A ,Tretinoin ( if already not taken). 3.Azelaic Acid 10 percent for two weeks. 4. Oral Medications -tablet Doxycycline 1 month twice a day for 1week
In addition use aloevera - tulsi solution to apply topically for 1 month
In case of no improvement in 1 month, kindly consult dermatologist in person for better clarification Hopefully you recover soon Regards
For glowing, glass-like skin free of dark spots and open pores, focus on gentle skincare + lifestyle changes. Use sunscreen daily, a mild cleanser, vitamin C serum (for brightening), and niacinamide (for pores and spots); add retinol only under dermatologist advice. For the best long-term results, consult a dermatologist who can guide you on chemical peels, laser, or prescription creams tailored to your skin.

Your concerns about skin tone, dark spots, and overall skin health are quite common, and there are several evidence-based strategies to consider for improvement. For dark spots, known clinically as hyperpigmentation, start by incorporating a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 into your daily routine, as sun exposure can exacerbate pigmentation. Additionally, topical treatments containing ingredients like vitamin C, niacinamide, kojic acid, or hydroquinone may help lighten these spots over time. Ensuring these ingredients are part of your skincare regimen can gradually reduce hyperpigmentation. Next, for open pores, maintaining a thorough yet gentle cleansing routine is key. Consider a cleanser with salicylic acid, which helps to dissolve oil and dead skin cells that can enlarge pores. Retinoids, available in both over-the-counter and prescription forms, can also promote skin turnover and reduce the appearance of pores over time. As for achieving a brighter, smoother skin appearance akin to what’s termed 'glass skin,’ consistent exfoliation with products containing alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) can help to achieve a more radiant skin texture by removing dead skin cells. Ensure you’re not over-exfoliating, as that can cause irritation. Also, maintaining proper hydration, both internally through adequate water intake and externally using a good moisturizer, is essential for healthy-looking skin. Lifestyle factors such as unwinding from stress can matter too. Activity like regular exercise and ensuring sufficient sleep can vastly contribute to the well-being of your skin. Lastly, once you have a new skincare, it’s wise to patch-test new products to prevent adverse reactions. If dark spots persist or are of a concerning nature, consulting a dermatologist would be advisable for tailored treatment plans or procedures that might include laser therapy or chemical peels, bearing in mind the balance between effectiveness and downtime.
