Doctors’ responses

Dr. Perambalur Ayyadurai Rohith
I am a general physician with more than 10 yr of clinical experiance, and in this time I worked with patients from all age groups, from young kids to elderly with multiple chronic issues. My practice has been wide, but I gradually developed deeper intrest in diabetology. I spend much of my day focusing on prevention, early diagnosis and management of diabetes, using lifestyle modification, medical therapy and regular monitoring. Many patients come worried about complications, and I try to explain things in simple language, whether it is diet, excercise, or understanding lab reports, so they dont feel lost. I also conduct detailed diagnostic evaluation and use evidence based protocols to make sure treatment is reliable and updated, even if sometimes I double check myself when results dont match the clinical picture. Apart from regular OPD practice, I gained strong experiance in occupational health. Over years I worked with multiple companies handling pre employment checks, annual medical exams, workplace wellness programs, and ensuring compliance with industrial health and safety standards. It is diffrent from hospital practice, but equally important, because healthy workers mean safe and productive workplace. I run medical surveillance programs and health awareness sessions in collaboration with corporates, and this also gave me exposure to preventive strategies on a large scale. For me, patient care is not just treatment but building trust. My career revolve around preventive medicine, ethical clinical practice, and continuous learning. I keep myself updated with modern medical protocols, but I also value listening to patient worries, since medicine is not only about lab values but also about how a person feels in daily life. I make mistakes in words sometimes, but in my work I try to be very precise. At end of day, my aim is to provide care that is accessible, evidence based and truly centered on patient well being.

Your symptoms (itching, burning, white/yellowish scum, recurrence) strongly suggest chronic fungal infection (candidiasis), which has not cleared fully.

Repeated creams and short courses won’t help this needs a longer antifungal treatment (oral medicines + topical) under gynecologist supervision.

Maintain strict hygiene: keep the area dry, wear loose cotton underwear, and avoid scented soaps, vaginal washes, or frequent rubbing.

Control contributing factors like diabetes, fatty liver, or low immunity, as these can cause frequent recurrences.

Please consult a gynecologist for proper prescription and follow up self-medicating repeatedly will not cure the infection completely.

It sounds like you’ve been dealing with a chronic issue related to yeast infections, and the symptoms you’re describing may suggest a persistent fungal infection like candidiasis or possibly another condition like bacterial vaginosis or dermatitis. Consistent symptoms like burning, itching, and discharge need a thorough evaluation to determine the exact cause, since it’s important not to assume it’s always just a yeast infection. You should definitely see a healthcare professional — preferably a gynecologist, as they can perform necessary tests like a swab or culture to identify the specific cause of your symptoms. In some cases, a biopsy may be needed if the diagnosis is not clear. The type of discharge, especially consistent white or yellowish scum, may provide clues. For immediate relief, avoid irritating substances like scented soaps, douches, and tight clothing which may aggravate the symptoms. A good approach is to maintain the area dry and to wear breathable, cotton underwear. Over-the-counter antifungal creams might offer temporary relief but they shouldn’t be relied on for long-term management without understanding the full picture. Also, recurrent problems might require prescription medication such as oral antifungal tablets, depending on what the tests reveal. If any unusual symptoms arise, like severe pain, high fever, or quick spreading of symptoms, seek prompt medical evaluation. While waiting for the appointment, keeping a symptom diary, noting any factors like diet, stress, or hygiene products used could help the doctor understand triggers or patterns. Make sure to discuss your full medical history as it might reveal underlying factors contributing to these recurrent infections, such as diabetes or immune system issues. Don’t delay medical consultation, as knowing your specific condition is essential for effective treatment and avoiding potential complications.
