Headache that’s persistent over weeks like yours deserves a closer look, especially if standard pain relievers like paracetamol aren’t cutting it. Stress and anxiety often go hand-in-hand with headaches and could be contributing significantly here. Try relaxation techniques like deep breathing, meditation, or yoga, which can be helpful in managing stress and may alleviate some headache symptoms. Adequate hydration and regular sleep can also make a meaningful difference, so ensure you’re drinking enough water and getting regular, restorative sleep. It’s also essential to consider triggers—keep a headache diary to track lifestyle choices, food intake, caffeine consumption, and activities to pinpoint what might be contributing to your headache. Caffeine reduction can be helpful, but avoid sudden stops as caffeine withdrawal might worsen the headache initially. Given the persistence of your headache, it’s important to get a comprehensive check-up, ringfencing more serious conditions, like cluster headaches or migraines, which might require specialized medication or treatment plans. Moreover, chronic headaches sometimes indicate a need for preventive treatments or therapies that your doctor can discuss with you. Be mindful of red flags like vision changes, weakness, confusion or stiff neck which would necessitate immediate medical attention. Lastly, avoid over-reliance on painkillers as they can contribute to rebound headaches if used too frequently. Make sure to circle back with your healthcare provider to explore alternate treatments or adjustments to your current regimen that align with your symptoms and health profile.
