Concerns About Skin Issues (Acne, Pimples, Tanning, and Dark Circles)

Sudhanshu

Firstly, I’ve noticed that my face lacks a healthy glow, and sometimes I develop pimples. Additionally, I have dark circles under my eyes that have been persistent despite trying various home remedies. I’m also concerned about my body skin, as I’ve been getting Acne on my back and have noticeable tanning. The overall texture of my skin doesn’t seem to improve, even though I maintain a basic skincare routine.

Hello Sudhanshu,

I understand your concern about the skin issues. Your situation is pretty common and manageable with lifestyle changes, skin care and supplementation. Here’s my advise for you.

Lifestyle - Sleep at least 7–8 hrs. Avoid oily/junk foods and excess sugar. Add fresh fruits, nuts, and green leafy vegetables. Stay well-hydrated and do regular exercise.

I have mentioned your skin issues and the products you can use for them along with a few brand suggestions.

Acne : Use a salicylic acid face/body wash (Saslic DS / Neutrogena Body Clear). Apply Clindac-A gel (morning) + Adapalene + Benzoyl Peroxide gel (night). Use a light moisturizer (Cetaphil DAM / Neutrogena Hydro Boost).

Tanning/Dullness: Daily sunscreen (La Shield SPF 40 / Neutrogena Ultra Sheer SPF 50). Vitamin C serum in the morning for glow.

Dark Circles: Use under-eye cream (Himalaya / The Derma Co Caffeine Serum), ensure good sleep, iron-rich diet, hydration.

Supplements: Tab.Vitamin C 500mg daily × 20 days & Tab. Multivitamin once daily × 3 months.

Improvement takes 6–8 weeks, so stay consistent. If severe/worsening, see a dermatologist.

Feel free to reach out again.

Regards, Dr. Nirav Jain MBBS, DNB D.Fam.Med

Dull facial skin, persistent pimples, dark circles, and acne on the back can be caused by hormonal imbalance, stress, diet, or inadequate skincare for your skin type. While home remedies may offer temporary relief, a dermatologist can assess your skin, identify underlying causes, and suggest targeted treatments such as topical medications, lifestyle modifications, and professional procedures for glow and acne management. Please consult a dermatologist for a personalized evaluation and long-term solution.

Addressing skin concerns like lack of glow, pimples, dark circles, and body acne involves a multi-faceted approach. For the pimples, consider whether your skincare routine includes harsh products that may irritate your skin. Opt for gentle, non-comedogenic products and introduce a topical retinoid, which can help with acne and improve skin texture. Remember to apply it in the evening due to its photosensitivity. Consistent use may reduce pimples within a few weeks. Addressing dark circles requires a focus on sleep quality as well as potential lifestyle factors. Insufficient sleep can exacerbate these; aim for 7-9 hours of restful sleep. Consider using eye creams containing caffeine or vitamin C to reduce the appearance of dark circles, although results may vary. For tanning and improving overall skin texture, wearing broad-spectrum sunscreen daily is crucial; even indoors, UVA rays can penetrate windows. Consider including vitamin C serums to help brighten the skin and stimulate collagen production. If body acne is an issue, switch to a salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide body wash—these can target and reduce acne lesions. If after several months of adhering to these suggestions you see no improvement, consult a dermatologist. They might recommend more specific treatments like chemical peels or professional-grade products, which can offer more dramatic results. Staying hydrated and considering dietary changes, like reducing sugar and dairy intake, can also have beneficial effects. Always patch test new products to avoid adverse reactions; any persistent or severe skin issue should be reviewed by a healthcare provider.
