Loose motion meaning marathi

Palak

I am really worried about my ongoing stomach issues. For the past few days, I've been dealing with what seems like loose motion, and honestly, it's been a real hassle. I didn't understand at first what exactly loose motion means in Marathi, but I think it’s important to know because my grandma always used to talk about it in those terms. Anyway, the whole situation started after I had this weird street food, and now I'm like running to the bathroom every hour. I feel weak and bloated. Is loose motion meaning in Marathi just diarrhea or does it cover something else too? I'm drinking a lot of water, trying to stay hydrated, but nothing seems to help. I even got some over-the-counter meds, but no luck yet. Should I be worried about this loose motion business? How long is too long, and like, when should I see a doctor? Also, is there something I should be eating or avoiding because honestly, I'm scared to have more food, fearing it might trigger more loose motion. Any advice would be super helpful, thanks!

Doctors' responses

The term “loose motion” in Marathi refers to what we commonly know as diarrhea. It describes the frequent passage of loose or watery stools. Since you mention this started after eating street food, it could be related to an infection, such as those caused by bacteria or viruses, or simply an intolerance to something you ate. Being mindful of what you’re consuming is crucial right now. Stick to bland foods like bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast – commonly referred to as the BRAT diet. These foods can help firm up stools and give your digestive system a rest. Stay clear of dairy products, fatty foods, and anything too spicy or greasy, as these can worsen the situation.

Hydration is the key when you’re dealing with diarrhea since you lose a lot of fluids. Oral rehydration solutions (ORS) or electrolyte drinks can be helpful as they replenish lost salts and minerals. Be cautious with over-the-counter meds; they can provide relief but aren’t always recommended if an infection is the cause, as your body might be trying to flush it out. Usually, acute diarrhea should start resolving within a day or two, but if your symptoms persist beyond that, especially if you experience severe dehydration, blood in stool, or high fever, it’s essential to seek medical attention. Such symptoms could indicate a more serious condition that requires prompt intervention. Remember that ensuring proper hygiene, like washing your hands regularly, is also important to prevent spreading infections. If you’re in doubt or your condition doesn’t improve, visiting a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan is wise.
