Why heart rate fluctuates? - #12305
I am kinda freaking out about my heart rate lately. Like, one moment it's fine and the next it’s racing like I just ran a marathon. I've always thought heart rate fluctuates mainly with exercise or stress, but for me, it feels totally random. I mean, the other night I was watching TV, just chilling, and noticed it shot up to 120 bpm out of nowhere! My doctor said things like caffeine, dehydration, or even lack of sleep can play a part, but I don’t drink coffee much, and I do try to stay hydrated. Sometimes I feel lightheaded or just off after these fluctuations, and it's really starting to get on my nerves! Then yesterday, I did some light stretching and my heart rate almost doubled! Isn’t it crazy how we can be at rest and then suddenly it shoots up? Why does heart rate fluctuates like this without any clear reason? Is this something normal, or should I be more concerned about it? I mean, I am not super fit, but I thought my heart was at least somewhat okay considering I don’t have any major health issues. Should I be tracking it more closely or maybe even getting a monitor? Would really appreciate any insights from all you docs out there. Thanks!
