best fruits for loose motion - #13266

Reyansh

I am feeling really uneasy as I’ve been dealing with loose motion for the past few days. It started after I ate some street food that didn’t sit well with me, and now I just can’t shake it off. My stomach’s been churning like crazy, and on top of that, I’ve got this urgency to run to the bathroom every couple of hours. I visited my doctor and was told to stay hydrated and eat easy-to-digest stuff, but I’m not super clear on what “easy” means. Specifically, I keep hearing about the best fruits for loose motion, but honestly, I’m confused. Are bananas really one of the best fruits for loose motion? I’ve heard people saying that applesauce is good too, but what about other fruits like rice or anything? I have a hard time knowing when to eat what and how that can help. Should I be cautious with fruits that might make things worse, you know? If anyone has experience with the best fruits for loose motion, I’d really appreciate any thoughts! P.s. I really miss eating my usual fruit salads.

For loose motion, bananas are indeed one of the best fruits to consider incorporating into your diet. They’re well-known for being easy on the stomach and can be quite effective due to their high pectin content, which helps to absorb liquid in the intestines and add bulk to stool. Additionally, bananas are rich in potassium, which helps replenish electrolytes lost during bouts of diarrhea. Apples, particularly in the form of applesauce, are also helpful. The cooking process helps break down some of the fibers, making them easier to digest while retaining the pectin benefits. When dealing with diarrhea, it’s generally best to avoid raw apples as they can be harder on your stomach. Rice isn’t a fruit, but its presence here highlights your interest in low-fiber and binding foods, which are ideal during loose motion events — so a thumbs up on that front too. Other fruits to consider are blueberries, especially dried, as they contain tannins which can help with diarrhea. However, be cautious with certain fruits like pears, plums, or prunes as they might exacerbate your symptoms due to their high fiber content. Citrus fruits might be acidic and potentially irritating as well. It’s important to ensure that you’re also staying hydrated, use clean, boiled water, or oral rehydration solutions as recommended by your doctor. Avoid fruits and foods that are known for potentially causing gas or further irritation of your digestive tract by focusing on the B-R-A-T diet (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast). Always remember to keep an eye on your symptoms. If they persist or become more severe, it would be prudent to seek medical advice promptly.
