how can i purify my blood

Shreya

I am really worried about my health lately and trying to figure out how can I purify my blood. A few months ago, I started feeling super tired all the time, and no matter how much I slept, I just couldn't shake it off. My skin looked kinda dull, and I started getting rashes, which was weird. I went to the doctor, and they ran some tests, but everything came back normal, which confuses me even more. They just told me to eat better and drink more water. I did change a couple of things, like cutting out junk food and being more active, but I still feel like something's off. I read online about detoxing and how can I purify my blood through foods and herbs, like beets and dandelion, but is that stuff legit? I mean, does any of it actually work? And how can I purify my blood without any fancy treatments or extreme diets that are impossible to keep up with long term? It seems like there’s just so much info out there, and I can’t tell what's real! Any tips or simple advice would be very helpful, thanks!

Doctors' responses

Feeling concerned about your health can be stressful, especially when you’re not seeing expected results from the changes you’ve made. When it comes to “purifying” the blood, it’s important to understand that your body is quite efficient at detoxifying itself, primarily through the liver and kidneys, which continually filter and remove toxic substances. The concept of detox diets or blood purification largely lacks scientific support. Instead, focusing on overall health and wellness can be more beneficial. You’re already on the right track by cutting out junk food and being more active. Balanced nutrition plays a crucial role in supporting the body’s natural detoxification processes. Aim to eat a varied diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Foods like beets, dandelion greens, and cruciferous vegetables (like broccoli or kale) are indeed good for the liver but don’t expect them to “cleanse” your blood per se. Staying hydrated by drinking enough water is vital as it supports kidney function, helping to flush out waste. You mentioned tiredness, dull skin, and rashes, which might require some deeper examination if they persist. Sometimes these symptoms could relate to something as common as vitamin deficiencies or allergies, among others. It could help to review your recent lab results with your doctor to discuss whether a more specific investigation might be needed. Keep an eye out for any new unusual symptoms and ensure you’ve re-checked nutritional factors like iron levels and vitamin B12 if they weren’t already assessed. Avoid any unsupervised extreme detox plans; instead, consistently implement small, sustainable lifestyle changes. Should symptoms persist despite lifestyle modifications, a follow-up with your healthcare provider is advisable. They might consider referrals to a specialist if necessary, to explore potential underlying issues.
