blemishes in face - #13439

Rashi

I am really worried about these blemishes in my face that just won't go away. It all started about three months ago when I noticed one small spot on my cheek, and thought it was just a pimple or something. I really didn't think much of it till it got bigger and now I have several blemishes in my face, and they seem to be multiplying. I've tried over-the-counter creams, even natural remedies that my friends suggested, but nothing seems to work! It's super frustrating, and I can't help but feel self-conscious about it. In the mornings, I look in the mirror and the blemishes in my face just make me feel like hiding from the world. I thought maybe it was stress or hormones, but I've tried to manage that too -- I've cut back on sugar and started drinking green smoothies. Still, the blemishes in my face persist! Has anyone else gone through something like this? What exactly is causing these blemishes in my face? Am I missing something important that could actually help? Juggling work and worrying about my skin feels overwhelming, and I'm just feeling really lost right now. What can I do to finally get rid of these?

Doctors’ responses

Blemishes on the face can be really tricky to deal with, and there can be many reasons for them. The fact that you’ve tried multiple remedies without success suggests it could be more than just a simple pimple problem. Acne, rosacea, or even fungal infections might be involved. Hormonal changes often trigger skin issues, so while you’ve already tried managing stress and diet, these factors may still contribute. Since over-the-counter treatments haven’t helped, you might need professional guidance. Consulting a dermatologist might be the next step. They can examine the blemishes more closely, maybe even run some tests to identify any underlying causes. Often, prescription-strength topical treatments or medications can make a big difference. Avoid excessive cleaning or scrubbing, as that sometimes aggravates the skin. When it comes to skincare products, choose non-comedogenic ones, so they don’t clog pores. Keep your face clean, but gentle cleansing is key. While some natural remedies are okay, they might not always match professional treatments in effectiveness. Try to stick to what works after consulting a specialist. Additionally, if makeup products might be contributing, consider re-evaluating their ingredients. Environmental irritants like pollution might also be culprits so try minimizing exposure if possible. It’s wise to address it sooner with a dermatologist to avoid prolonged issues. They will provide a more individualized treatment plan tailored to your skin type and condition, likely accelerating your path to clearer skin.
