hair vanish cream - #13880

Arya

I am really concerned about this hair vanish cream I started using a couple weeks ago. My friend recommended it, saying it worked wonders for her unwanted hair, but I'm not so sure anymore. I mean, at first, I noticed some results, but now I'm seeing small patches where my hair is actually coming back thicker or something. It's kind of scary, ya know? Like I thought hair vanish cream was supposed to make hair go away, not make it worse! Plus, I've been getting this weird redness on my skin where I apply it, and I don't know if that's normal or if I should be worried. I also read online that some people experience reactions and I'm kinda freaking out. Has anyone here used this hair vanish cream and had similar things happen? Am I using it wrong or do I need to find a different method entirely? Like, who knew hair vanish cream could come with side effects? Should I just stop using it altogether? I feel lost and any thoughts would help!

Doctors’ responses

When using hair vanish cream, it’s crucial to be aware that individual responses can vary significantly. These creams often contain chemicals like calcium thioglycolate or sodium hydroxide, designed to dissolve hair at the skin’s surface. While they can indeed work well for some people, there are potential side effects that you’re experiencing, such as skin redness or irritation. This may indicate a sensitivity to one or more ingredients. If you notice hair returning thicker or different in texture, it’s worth considering that regular depilatory use often doesn’t alter hair thickness but your perception can change as shorter hairs emerge simultaneously. To decide the best course of action, consider doing a patch test on a small skin area before full application, which you may have done before you started. Given the redness, it could be wise to stop using the product temporarily and observe if the irritation lessens. In case your symptoms persist, seeking advice from a healthcare provider or dermatologist could be invaluable; they can provide tailored recommendations based on your skin type and health history. For alternative methods of hair removal, options like laser, waxing, or electrolysis may be more suitable, although they can have their own sets of considerations regarding skin sensitivity and cost. If your current skin reaction worsens, or if you see swelling or severe irritation, consult a doctor promptly to rule out allergic reactions or skin damage. Always prioritize skin health over hair removal results and proceed with caution if you try a different product or method.
