pimple spot removal - #14007

Anvi

I am dealing with this really frustrating situation where I suddenly got these awful breakouts on my face, like, out of nowhere! I just started a new skincare routine, but now my skin looks like a battlefield. I’ve got multiple pimple spots, and it's just so annoying! I tried using some over-the-counter creams for pimple spot removal, but they don’t seem to do much good. Like, I see these promises on the packaging, but nothing seems to disappear! The other day, I had a big event, and of course, that was when I woke up with another pimple spot on my cheek—just great, right? I was thinking about getting a professional treatment for pimple spot removal, maybe something stronger, but I’m also worried about side effects—has anyone had any luck with that? Any recommendations on which treatments or products really work for pimple spot removal? Or am I just wasting my money? Please help! I feel like I've tried everything, and I just want my skin back to normal without looking like a pizza.

Doctors’ responses

Addressing sudden breakouts and persistent pimple spots can be challenging, especially when trying new skincare products. It’s common for your skin to react to new routines, sometimes leading to “purging,” where underlying blemishes surface as the skin adjusts. Over-the-counter treatments typically contain ingredients like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, known for their effectiveness in reducing acne, but these may take several weeks to show noticeable results. Delving into professional treatments can be a viable option, though it’s crucial to be informed about potential side effects. Chemical peels and laser treatments can help in reducing active acne and pimple marks by exfoliating the skin and promoting collagen production. However, these procedures can sometimes lead to redness, sensitivity, or even pigmentation changes, particularly if not matched properly to your skin type. It’s advisable to consult with a dermatologist to tailor a treatment plan fit for your specific skin type and concerns. They might consider prescription options like topical retinoids or antimicrobials if over-the-counter products aren’t yielding results. Additionally, lifestyle factors such as stress, diet, and sleep can greatly influence skin health. Ensuring a balanced diet, adequate hydration, and stress management can complement your skincare routine. Remember, consistency is key in skincare, so whichever route you choose, give it some time to work.
