how to clean the liver naturally - #14656

Vihaan

I am really concerned about my health lately. I've been feeling super sluggish and just off. A week ago, I decided to get some blood tests done, and they showed some elevated liver enzymes. The doc didn’t seem too worried, just said to watch my diet, but I can't help but feel like something needs to change ASAP. I keep hearing about how to clean the liver naturally and thought maybe that could help? I’ve read stuff online about liver detox teas and all kinds of herbs. Maybe I should cut out alcohol completely? My diet isn’t terrible, but I do enjoy my late-night snacks, you know? I want to know, how to clean the liver naturally can really make a difference? Like, are there specific foods or juices that are better than others? I tried drinking lemon water in the morning, but is that even enough? Is there a routine I should follow or any supplements that actually work? I just want to feel more energetic and less sluggish. I’m kinda lost here and don’t wanna make it worse, ya know? Any advice would be super helpful!

Elevated liver enzymes can sometimes be a sign that your liver is under stress, but as a GP, I’d suggest focusing on practical lifestyle modifications before turning to detox teas or supplements, which aren’t always backed by evidence. Eliminating or significantly reducing alcohol is a good starting point. Alcohol can indeed stress the liver, so taking a break or limiting it can help lower those enzyme levels. Eating a balanced diet, rich in fruits, veggies, lean proteins, and whole grains, provides the necessary nutrients your liver needs to function more efficiently. Foods like greens, beetroot, and citrus fruits like lemons can be beneficial; however, there’s no magic food or juice that will “clean” your liver. It’s more about overall balance and consistency. Avoid crash diets or excessive snacking on processed foods—they can lead to fatty liver disease, which might be impacting your enzymes. Regular exercise is another key to improving liver function and boosting energy levels. Supplements like milk thistle are often discussed, but definitive benefits aren’t well-proven—it’s best to focus on dietary changes first. Instead of detox drinks, adopting such sustainable habits is more reliable for liver health. Keep an eye on portion sizes and aim to have meals at regular intervals rather than late at night. Most importantly, stay in communication with your healthcare provider, especially if enzyme levels remain elevated or if you experience symptoms like jaundice, abdominal pain, or confusion. In such cases, further investigation might be needed to exclude conditions like hepatitis or other liver complications.
