pimples marks removal - #14800

Zoya

I am dealing with really stubborn pimples marks removal, and I’m feeling kinda frustrated. Like, I used to have pretty clear skin, but after this last breakout, the marks just won’t budge. They’re red and just a total eye sore, honestly. I tried a couple of over-the-counter creams and even some home remedies like lemon juice and honey, but they just didn't do anything!! I don’t know if I’m using them wrong or what, but I also heard that some things can make it worse. Anyway, I went to a dermatologist, and they suggested some laser treatment for pimples marks removal, but it sounds kinda extreme and expensive – like, is that really necessary? Or are there other ways to tackle this? I really want to avoid scarring or anything—my confidence is tanking and it's super annoying to be self-conscious about something so basic. I read about some natural oils too, but I’m worried they might break me out again. Can anyone share their experience with pimples marks removal? What worked or didn’t work for you? I just want my skin back to normal, and it feels a bit hopeless right now. Thanks in advance!!!

Doctors’ responses

When it comes to dealing with stubborn pimple marks, a multi-pronged approach is often the most successful. While natural remedies sound appealing, they aren’t always the most effective for everyone, and some can indeed cause further irritation. Over-the-counter creams containing ingredients like salicylic acid, glycolic acid, or vitamin C are worth considering; they can help to exfoliate the skin, lighten hyperpigmentation, and promote regeneration. However, remember that consistent, ongoing application is key, and results might take several weeks to show. Be patient and don’t rush it, as overuse can lead to dryness and irritation. Sunscreen is vital. Sun exposure can darken blemishes, so applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily, even when indoors, helps to prevent marks from becoming more pronounced. Laser treatments, although seemingly extreme or costly, are highly effective for deep scarring and hyperpigmentation resistant to topical treatments. It’s not necessarily the first step but a suitable option if topical methods do not give desired outcomes. As for natural oils, they can offer hydration and occasionally reduce marks, but they do have the potential to clog pores and lead to new breakouts. If you’re considering oils, test the patch on a small area first. Seeing your dermatologist was a wise step; if laser treatment isn’t within reach or preference, discussing other treatments like chemical peels or microdermabrasion might help. They offer milder, cost-effective solutions compared to laser and can also target stubborn marks. Lifestyle factors shouldn’t be overlooked – maintaining a balanced diet, managing stress, and adequate sleep contribute to overall skin health. Don’t get caught up in trying too many things at once; stick with a routine for a while to gauge its true effect. Lastly, ensure any product used is non-comedogenic to avoid further breakouts.
