loose motion instant remedy - #14821

Kimaya

I am in a bit of a pickle here. Just last night, I started feeling this weird churn in my stomach, and before I knew it, I was running to the bathroom like every few minutes! Ugh. I thought it was something I ate, but I can't be sure. Anyway, the loose motion situation has gotten pretty bad, and I'm getting kinda desperate. I've tried some plain toast and water, but honestly, it feels like I'm stuck in this loop of the loose motion instead of getting better. My friend swears by some old family remedy for loose motion that involves apple cider vinegar, but I don’t know if I should just take her word for it or not. I’ve googled some loose motion instant remedy tips, but there’s such a mix of advice out there. Does anyone here have a no-nonsense loose motion instant remedy that actually works? I'm not into taking a ton of meds if I can avoid it, but at this point, anything that might help get rid of this loose motion would be fantastic! It's just so uncomfortable and I feel like my whole day is wasted in the bathroom. Is there something simple I can whip up at home for this loose motion thing? I really need some practical suggestions! Thanks a ton in advance!

Doctors’ responses

For managing loose motion, or diarrhea as it’s medically termed, focusing on rehydration and identifying potential underlying causes is crucial. First, let’s make sure you’re staying hydrated, as diarrhea can lead to significant fluid loss. Oral rehydration solutions (ORS) available at pharmacies are excellent for replacing lost fluids and electrolytes. If you don’t have ORS, you can mix half a teaspoon of salt and six level teaspoons of sugar in one liter of clean water to create a homemade rehydration solution. Drink this slowly throughout the day. In terms of diet, you should focus on eating bland, easy-to-digest foods. The BRAT diet - bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast - is a popular choice. These foods can help firm up your stools. Probiotics, found in yogurt or in supplement form, can also help restore healthy gut flora. As for the apple cider vinegar remedy, there’s not enough scientific evidence to support its efficacy in treating diarrhea. Its high acidity could potentially aggravate an upset stomach, so it’s better to skip this for now. If your symptoms persist for more than two days, or if you notice blood in your stools, a high fever, or dehydration signs like dizziness or reduced urination, please consult a healthcare provider promptly. These could be signs of a more serious condition needing medical attention. For now, try to take it easy, stick to the advice above, and monitor how your symptoms progress.
