how to decrease pimples - #15310

Diya

I am really struggling with my skin lately, and I just don't know how to decrease pimples. Like, a few months ago, everything was fine, but now my face has become this battlefield! I wash my face twice a day, use some over-the-counter stuff, but nothing seems to work. I keep seeing new ones popping up and the ones I already have are so stubborn, it’s like they’re living rent-free on my face. I tried changing my diet too—cut out junk food, added more water—nothing! I even saw a dermatologist who gave me a cream, but the results were kinda underwhelming. Is there any other way on how to decrease pimples? Does anyone have tips or tricks that really worked for them? Or maybe it's something I'm doing wrong? I read somewhere that stress can make it worse, and with work being crazy these days, I wouldn't be surprised if that's also playing a part. Like, how to decrease pimples when life feels like a rollercoaster? Any advice would seriously help, even if it’s not a quick fix!

If dealing with persistent acne, there are a few targeted strategies you might consider beyond what you’re already trying. Firstly, even if you’re washing your face twice a day, it’s important to make sure you’re not over-cleansing, as this can strip your skin of natural oils, potentially leading to more breakouts. Use a gentle, non-comedogenic cleanser and lukewarm water. Occasionally incorporating a salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide wash can help tackle acne bacteria and oil build-up. If the topical cream from your dermatologist isn’t showing results, sometimes combining treatments can be more effective, such as alternating it with retinoids, which help unclog pores and encourage skin renewal. It’s possible to experience a temporary flare-up with retinoid use at first, so patience is key.

Consider implementing lifestyle changes to manage stress, which undeniably can exacerbate acne. Mindfulness practices or regular physical activity might be beneficial here more than you might think. In terms of diet, although researchers debate the exact impact of food, some do find limiting dairy and refined sugars helps. Stress management could indeed help mitigate breakouts; consider integrating yoga or deep-breathing exercises into your routine.

Since your symptoms persist despite changes, assessing internal factors might also be worthwhile. Hormonal imbalances can cause stubborn acne, particularly around the jawline or chin, and might require oral medication; consult with your doctor about this possibility. Incorporating an oil-free moisturizer can help maintain barrier protection without worsening acne. Remember to avoid picking or squeezing the pimples as this can cause inflamed areas to worsen, leading to scarring or infection. Acne solutions often take weeks to months to show significant changes, so staying consistent with a regimen is essential. If none of these seem to help, it might be time to reassess with a dermatologist for potential advanced treatments like chemical peels or light therapies. Remember, addressing root causes and being consistent with treatment are crucial steps towards clearer skin.
