how to clean your stomach in one day at home - #15515

Advait

I am feeling kind of desperate to figure out how to clean your stomach in one day at home. Last week I ended up binge eating junk food — pizza, chips, you name it. And now I can’t shake this bloated feeling! My stomach is like a balloon, and gas is my new best friend (not!). Tried drinking a ton of water, and I thought about juices, but they just don’t seem to help. My digestion feels sluggish, and I feel, well, stuck. Also, heard about detox diets but honestly, they sound kind of extreme. I mean, how realistic is it to suddenly shift to just liquids or something? I’d really prefer something that’s doable without spending a fortune on weird ingredients or stuff. If anyone has tips on how to clean your stomach in one day at home without feeling like I’m punishing myself, I would love to hear! Are there specific foods that work? Smoothies? Herbal teas? Or is it just one of those “you have to endure the pain” things? I’m just looking for a quick fix to feel normal again. Any advice is super appreciated! Can't handle another day of this discomfort.

Doctors’ responses

Considering the discomfort you’re describing with bloating and indigestion after binge eating, there are a few safe things you might try to help alleviate those symptoms without the need for extreme measures or expensive ingredients. Firstly, focusing on a light diet could give your digestive system a bit of a break. Incorporate easily digestible foods like plain rice, bananas, or toast - often referred to as the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast), which has a calming effect on the stomach. Adding in plain yogurt with live cultures might also help as it can improve digestion because of the probiotics that promote a healthy microbiome. Drinking warm water with a bit of lemon juice or ginger could be soothing too; both can aid digestion. Herbal teas, like peppermint or chamomile, are known for their digestive benefits and might provide some relief from the bloating you’re experiencing. Engaging in mild physical activity, like walking, can assist in stimulating digestion and reducing bloating. It’s important, however, not to overdo it. Small, frequent meals could be easier on your system instead of one large meal. Lastly, keeping stress levels down as much as possible might help since stress can significantly affect digestion. If symptoms persist or worsen, make sure to seek medical attention as there could be more underlying issues requiring personalized treatment. Remember, trying to ‘cleanse’ rapidly isn’t usually an effective or safe approach; supporting your natural digestion with healthy habits is just key.
