benefits of drinking buttermilk daily for skin - #16971

Zoya

I am really curious about the benefits of drinking buttermilk daily for skin because my friend keeps raving about it. Last week, we were having lunch and she looked amazing, like her skin was glowing, and she said it was all thanks to buttermilk. I didn’t pay much attention at first, but then she told me how it helped her with breakouts and dryness too. So, I thought maybe I should give it a shot. I've got dry patches on my cheeks, and sometimes I breakout too, especially during that time of the month. I’ve read about the benefits of drinking buttermilk daily for skin, but I’m sceptical, like can something so simple really do all that?? I tried it for a few days now, but not sure if I’m noticing any difference yet, or maybe I need to be more patient?? I don’t even know how much I should be drinking, I just kinda gulp it down. Does anybody really have solid proof or stories about the benefits of drinking buttermilk daily for skin?? I mean, do you think it can replace my expensive creams or is it more of a supplement type thing? I just want to hear personal experiences because I’m kinda lost here!!

Drinking buttermilk daily can indeed have some benefits for your skin, though it’s not a miracle solution. Buttermilk is fermented milk, rich in probiotics, which are known to help promot good digestive health. Why does this matter for skin? Well, there’s some evidence suggesting a connection between gut health and skin health, often referred to as the gut-skin axis, where maintaining a healthy gut might help reduce inflammation-related conditions, like acne. Additionally, buttermilk contains lactic acid, a natural exfoliant, and when applied topically, it can help remove dead skin cells, which might make your skin appear fresher and more radiant. It’s also hydrating and can contribute to maintaining skin moisture, which could help with your dry patches. However, the effects of drinking buttermilk on skin aren’t immediately visible; it’s typically part of a longer-term lifestyle approach to skin health. Regarding dosage, one glass a day could be a reasonable amount.

It’s a good idea to maintain a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains alongside buttermilk to optimize skin and overall health. While buttermilk can be a healthy addition, it probably won’t completely replace skin creams, especially if those are targeted treatments for specific issues like dryness or acne. Use it as a complementary approach rather than a sole remedy. Also, be mindful if you’re lactose intolerant, as drinking buttermilk could cause digestive issues. Always monitor how your body reacts and, if you have skin conditions that persist, it may be worth consulting a dermatologist to integrate buttermilk alongside other treatments effectively. Remember, consistency and a holistic approach to lifestyle, including hydration, sun protection, and proper skincare, are key to healthy skin.
