dengue me konsa fruit khana chahiye - #17883

Parth

I am trying to figure out what to eat after being diagnosed with dengue fever last week. I was having these really high fevers and my joints hurt like crazy, plus a nasty rash that popped up outta nowhere. đŸ˜© The doctor said that hydration is super important and suggested lots of fluids, which I’m managing okay with juices and water. But now I'm stuck thinking about dengue me konsa fruit khana chahiye? I heard that some fruits can help boost the immune system, but I’m not sure which ones are best for dengue. Maybe papaya? I read somewhere that its leaves can help with platelet count too. But do I need to avoid anything while I’m recovering? My appetite isn’t the greatest now, and to be honest, I've been feeling kinda nauseous too. I want to make sure I’m eating the right stuff, you know? Like, is there a specific fruit or a combo of fruits that’s recommended, or should I just stick to something simple? Any specific fruits that can help with dengue would be awesome. Anyone got tips on what to enjoy while dealing with this mess?

Doctors' responses

For dengue fever, focus on fruits that can help maintain hydration, provide essential vitamins, and possibly support immune function. Among fruits, papaya is often highlighted not just for its nutritional value but also due to the potential benefit of papaya leaf extract, which some studies suggest might aid in improving platelet counts. While definitive evidence on the leaf extract’s safety and efficacy is still being studied, eating ripe papaya itself can be a healthy choice as it’s rich in vitamin C and provides digestive support. Additionally, oranges and other citrus fruits like lime and lemon are excellent due to their vitamin C content, which is crucial for immune support. Watermelon, due to its high water content, is good for keeping you hydrated.

Bananas are mild on the stomach, provide some potassium, and are generally well-tolerated if you’re feeling nauseous. Apples and pomegranates offer fiber and are also good options; just be sure to drink plenty of fluids to aid digestion. Avoid any unripe or overly acidic fruits if they irritate your stomach or add to nausea.

While consuming these fruits, try to avoid anything particularly processed or spicy, as they might exacerbate stomach discomfort. Always pay attention to your body’s responses and eat what you’re comfortable with. It’s important to also maintain a balanced diet with adequate protein for recovery, so don’t rely solely on fruits. Additionally, if you notice severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, or bleeding symptoms, seek medical attention immediately. These could be signs of complications requiring more intensive care.
