how to clean pimple - #18956

Tara

I am worried about this pimple on my face that just won't go away. Like, it’s gotten pretty big and bruised but I’ve tried putting all kind of creams and spot treatments on it, even natural ones! I feel like nothing is working, and honestly, I'm super tempted to pop it because it’s so annoying. I read somewhere about how to clean pimple properly, but I'm not sure what I should really do. My friend said it could leave a scar if I mess it up, which makes me even more anxious, you know? I tried cleaning my face and using a clay mask but after that, I still feel like the pimple is getting worse. Ugh! What’s crazy is I never had this big of a pimple before and now I’m in my mid-20s and it’s like, what's going on?! Also, I’m like, am I even cleaning it right? How to clean pimple if it's so inflamed? Should I just leave it alone? Should I see a dermatologist, or can a regular doctor help too? I really don’t wanna make it worse! Any advice on how to clean pimple stuff would be super appreciated!

It sounds like you’re dealing with a persistent and potentially inflamed pimple, which can be particularly frustrating. The best approach to managing this is to resist the temptation to pop it, as doing so can indeed lead to scarring and potential infection. Instead, focus on a gentle skincare routine. Cleanse your face twice daily with a mild, non-comedogenic cleanser. Avoid using harsh scrubs or exfoliants as these can exacerbate the inflammation. After cleansing, apply a topical treatment containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. These ingredients can help reduce swelling and prevent further clogging of the pores. It’s important to be patient as these treatments can take a few days to begin showing improvement. If you notice no change or it worsens, seeing a dermatologist or a doctor for further evaluation is a reasonable next step. They can assess whether a prescription treatment, such as retinoids or antibiotics, is appropriate or if there’s an underlying condition contributing to these breakouts. Your friend’s advice about the risk of scarring is valid, so it’s wise to handle the pimple gently and avoid picking at it. Looking at other potential lifestyle factors like diet, stress, and sleep could also be valuable since they can influence skin health. Adopting these small changes can often make a significant difference, however, if symptoms persist, professional medical advice should definitely be sought, as they can provide tailored advice suited to your specific situation.
