how to normal heart beat - #18986

Kashvi

I am really worried about my heart lately. I’ve consistently been feeling like my heart is racing for no reason at all. Like, the other day I was just sitting on the couch watching TV, and all of a sudden it starts pounding like I had run a marathon! I mean, is that normal? I don’t have any known heart problems or anything, but I can’t help but think about what could be wrong. I’ve tried relaxing more and drinking herbal tea, but I’m still just not feeling right about it. A friend mentioned something about how to normal heart beat and that got me searching for answers. I really thought exercise would help because, you know, they say that’s good for heart health, but I feel like I can’t even keep up sometimes. Plus, I sometimes get this weird fluttering sensation in my chest, and it maybe even gets worse when I’m stressed. Ugh, I just really need to know how to normal heart beat again – it's driving me nuts! Should I be seeing a doctor about this, or are there some home remedies or lifestyle changes that can truly help? Any insight would really help, thanks!

Doctors' responses

It sounds like you might be experiencing palpitations, which can feel like your heart is racing, fluttering, or pounding. While such sensations can be quite unsettling, they aren’t always a sign of a serious health problem. However, since they are affecting your daily life, it’s wise to explore what’s causing them. Several potential factors could contribute to these symptoms, such as anxiety, excessive caffeine intake, dehydration, or even certain medications. It may also involve more significant causes like arrhythmias, which need medical attention.

Since you’re noticing these symptoms while at rest, and especially if they are accompanied by dizziness, chest pain, or shortness of breath, do consider scheduling an appointment with your doctor. A healthcare professional can perform necessary evaluations, such as an ECG, to check your heart’s rhythm and rule out any serious issues.

In terms of lifestyle approaches, here are a few suggestions: reduce caffeine intake, especially from coffee, soda, and energy drinks; manage stress through techniques like meditation or yoga; ensure you’re drinking enough water; and develop a regular exercise habit at a pace that feels sustainable for you. Ensure you’re getting sufficient rest each night too—poor sleep can impact heart health. If, after making these changes, you continue to experience symptoms, or they worsen, it’s crucial to seek medical advice. These measures address common contributors to palpitations, but there’s no substitute for personalized evaluation by a healthcare provider, especially given the potential for serious underlying conditions.
